A very small scout ship, D'renet scouts operates primarily on the borders of Romulan space, hiding in the shadows. A well built small ship, the D'renet's are typical science vessels--analagous to the aging Federation Oberth--and as such as not meant for mainline combat.

We only see the D'renets a few times on the show, but it is possible that there may be several variations of this ship testbedding new Romulan technologies.
